Relaxed

Are you after a place to relax and basically do nothing? Well then Paraty (pronounced Par-ach-ie) down the coast from Rio is the place. We arrived a few days ago and found a place to stay at a bed and breakfast. As it's low tourist season the place is pretty quiet with not much happening around town. There are so many beaches easily accessible and you can see that the place probably gets overrun by tourists in the high season.

01 - Nuclear Power Station

So far we've walked around the quaint old town along old uneven cobbled roads, headed over the hill to the other local beach called Praia da Jabaquara and scored some free Skol beers being handed out in the main street last night. As you can see our time here has been very relaxing.

02 - Paraty Old Town

Food here has been interesting. They definitely love their hamburgers with pretty much all eating places selling them (we avoided the old town restaurants as they are very over priced). With little other variety we actually had about three burgers each in 24 hours but tonight walked up the road to the local shop for a self catering effort. We're sitting in our room listening to the speakers broadcasting Sunday evening's church service. It sounds a lot like the music at the start of a Disney movie. They have some old churches in town, but after Europe we're a little churched-out so we have mostly just sat around relaxing, chatting and reading up on what we want to do in South America.
