We have come to major decision arriving in Amsterdam at 4AM after very little sleep. We refuse to travel on any more overnight buses!

Feeling very tired and exhausted we wandered around but could not find any hostels open at such a late (early hour) so we ended up sitting in the entrance to one for two hours until we could hear activity inside. This was only to discover they were full. After hiking back to another hostel which looked pretty dodgy and over hearing a girl complain they had had no hot water for three days, we went to a seedy hotel and paid and extravagant amount for a room that looked like it should be rented by the hour, but thankfully were allowed to have it at 10AM. We then slept till 5.30PM basically wasting any money and time advantage we had saved by taking the overnight bus in the first place.

So we made it to Amsterdam and thankfully this is a city where you can sleep all day and have plenty to do at night. We headed over to the infamous Red Light District and checked out the (tasteful?) walking strip. It does literally glow red at night, we wandered in and out of sex shops laughing at the array of interesting products available. After tiring of this we looked for a coffee shop where we could have some dessert. Most places looked very dodgy and we would have felt a little out of place sitting down in them, but we managed to stumble upon a funky little place called the Buddha Bar. Inside we grabbed a couple of comfy chairs, ordered some drinks and a Space Muffin and Chocolate Brownie. They came with a warning card tucked under the serviette and tasted ridiculously normal. After our munchies we headed back out to wander around some more eventually making our way back to the dodgy hotel room where Megan promptly got the giggles over absolutely nothing, then fell asleep! Rick seemingly unaffected, so he says, looked on in amusement.
