Honestly hands up who can understand modern Art? For those of you that do please ignore this entry, for those of you that don't, like us, never fear there is a solution here. On a rainy Sunday we decided to take in the Tate Modern but found ourselves walking away more impressed with the architecture of the building (which we think used to be a power station) than the actual art it contained. We did see a few famous pictures like Picasso's Weeping Women and Monet's Water Lilies but to be honest we just didn't get most of the "Art" in the place. One was interesting - a big piece of flat steel hanging from the roof, with little steel blobs at the bottom, all scattered on the floor. It was something to do with man's struggle to free himself, when to be honest it looked like the big bit of hanging steel had just had a dump on the floor!
After our art "experience" we headed through the pouring rain to the Tower of London
When we left the grounds to head home we were surprised to see Meg's broken umbrella resurrected from the bin by a desperate lady. It was still broken and performing a very bad job of keeping the woman dry, but at least it provided us with a laugh.

. This was something we weren't looking forward too; the hundreds of tourists fighting for space, but then again how could you go to London without seeing the famous Tower? At the gate Megs' umbrella gave up the ghost and died. It was so useless against the pouring rain she decided to chuck it into the bin. Inside we wandered through the gardens, the Towers and took in the sights, the Beefeaters, the Ravens all the usual Tower stuff. Megs' favourite was the Crown Jewels. We have never, in our lives, seen so many precious stones in one place. The security was pretty amazing and we were impressed with the moving walkways that ensure you can't stop and drool at the jaw dropping crowns for long. There was some serious bling on display. When we left the grounds to head home we were surprised to see Meg's broken umbrella resurrected from the bin by a desperate lady.
