Jumping on the Tube we headed over to South Kensington to wander through the Science Museum. We really headed to the museum to go to the Pixar: 20 Years of Animation exhibition that was currently being held. Megan had always wondered where Buzz Lightyear and Woody really came from, so she was now able to see them as sketches, models and in their full 3D beauty. I think she was a little shocked to find out they weren't actually real! The exhibition covered all Pixar movies from Toy Story, The Incredibles to the new movie coming out this year, Cars. It was pretty cool, but unfortunately we couldn't take any photos to show you - sorry.
Leaving Buzz and Woody behind we figured that since we're in the Science Museum we may as well wander around. The museum covered all kinds of things from the first computer (Charles Babbage's Difference Engine) to the British car the Mini and massive steam driven machines, one that was operational. Another special exhibition was Inside the Spitfire that showed all parts of the famous fighter plane. With too much to see (and to be honest it's a really dry topic to write about so we're going to skip a lot of it and spare you the time) we finally headed home, a little bit museumed-out.
One thing that was a bonus this week was we finally got a BT phone line installed and wireless Internet access into the flat. This has taken an absolute eternity, but at least we're now online and can chat with family and friends back home. We'll also endeavour to get some more photos up on this blog so you can see the lovely greyish haze of London. On an somber note, Rick was woken by a phone call this morning from his parents back in Australia, though not with good news. Overnight his grandmother had passed away. Sad news to start the day. Nanny, you were a lovely person and you'll be sadly missed, though you will fondly live on in my memories...
