Arriving in Moscow we found out that during our time in Irkutsk the temperature got down to a freezing minus 50 degrees Celsius! We thought it was cold, but not that cold. again we ventured out into the freezing cold to try and sort out our booking for the Ice Hotel and change the date of our flight from Helsinki to Stockholm. Finding the Qantas office without too much hassle and sorted the first of our problems. The idea of staying in the Ice Hotel however is no longer. After trying for two hours to sort out transport to the hotel from Stockholm we discovered that we couldn't book it online as for some reason the web site would not accept our Visa card. In frustration we gave up on the idea of getting there. Another negative was the cost of getting that far North was more than the night at the hotel anyway, better off saving our money for something else. After lunch we tried our hand at the Moscow Metro. Amazing! We wish Melbourne's train system was so fast and efficient, not to mention beautiful. You arrived at a platform and only waited about 22 seconds before another train arrived; very efficient. The stations are a work of art in themselves and worthwhile visiting. We made our way to the Cosmonaut Museum, under the huge spire of a rocket, and although all the titles and descriptions were in Russian, enjoyed the afternoon looking around.
