Arrived Bangkok Hua Lamphong Station. Negotiated a meter taxi to Kho San area.
"250 Baht sir"
"ha ha. very funny. Meter"
"Oh no sir"
"Then fuck off"
"Ok ok, meter taxi for you sir"
"I know Bangkok really well so don't fuck around. I know the way ok"

Quickest and cheapest taxi I ever got for that journey. Sometimes it pays to be in a foul mood. I rock.

Found a guesthouse. Actually I found 3 guesthouses, forgot which one I'd checked into and had rather a fun time later trying to find my room in the wrong one.

Slept. Got hungry.
"I'll go to ChinaTown." Thought I.
"Ha ha. No you won't. You'll try, and you'll get lost." Thought some malevolent spirit up there somewhere.
I tried. I got lost. But I had more fun that way. And I found great foo, really cheap. Oh happy days. And back to the guesthouse, via the internet.

Email from Depledge. Oh here we go...

"I'm such a ditz, I'm not coming on Sunday"

Oh shit...

"I'm coming on Thursday..."

Thank buggery for that.

Room. Mr. Nice. Sleep. Eat - Kaherine called me. Drink - Duncan called me. Sleep. What a night. 2 phonecalls. I'm happy.

Sunday...

The reason I'm staying in Bangkok for 2 nights and not getting the hell out of there as quick as is humanly possible is that I'm meeting Debby - you may remember her from such entries as "Ko Phi Phi, Thailand. Feb 5 2006" - for drinks. Woo hoo. Figure it was 17 months since I saw her last in Phi Phi.

So Sunday was spent doing very little. So little in fact that I don't even remember anything I did. I believe it pretty much consisted of admin type shit. Get bus ticket to airport; change the last of my Traveller's Cheques (at last), organise luggage storage, email people. All the exciting parts of being a "Backpacker". You need these days every now and again to keep you within arms reach of reality.

More Mr. Nice and then out for my tea. Of course I went for an Indian. Was alright. Then came the phonecall I'd been waiting for; Debby's here! So went out for drinks with Debby and her 2 Dutch friends. hey ducked out around 1:30am, leaving me 2 hours til my bus leaves. Only thing to do in such circumstances is to sit with the people on the next table and drink whisky til 3:30am. Which is what happened.
And going through airport check in and passport control is a lot easier whilst still drunk. And then I was in Kuala Lumpur.

A new stamp in my passport. Yay...
