This place is even better in real life, it must have taken them many hours to create the terraces, it has given Mac some great ideas for the back garden.  The houses are all made of wood, with no isulation and gaps all over the place, this has also given Mac an idea for the new conservatory when he gets home.

Now we are not saying it is up in the Gods and cold, BUT on the last day there when the locals opened up the windows the clouds came in..... really honest.  The odd thig was that even at 3000 feet above sea level, in the middle of China Mac got wi-fi.... more than he has managed so far in Hong Kong, so much for progress eh!

The locals put on a little show for us with traditional songs, dancing and bamboo jumping, Mac and Mable were very good at the Bamboo jumping putting the children to shame All dug by hand
All dug by hand
.  When it was our turn to sing a traditional English song all we could come up with was All Things Bright and Beautiful, they missed the Purple Headed Bed Snake verse, Mac was very upset at this.

In the true Chinese style of "lets make money from the tourists" we had to pay 30 rmb to have the remote to get some heating in our room, which was unbelievabley cold. This was an up hill struggle for the air - con unit  ( no pun intended for the location) with the gaps in the windows etc.. and so not environmentally friendly.
If you visist the Longji Terraces - they are soo worth it, but go in summer...make sure you take up a day pack, the sort you can carry on your back , yourself. I saw a shamefull thing,  a western woman with 2 huge suitcases that were being carried up by two little old ladies. I know its how they make money, but id rather buy  something from them. They are fantastic at embroidery and make some pretty things that are so cheap that even I would not try an knock them down! its a pity that we are limited on what we can buy ie I have to carry it , as I have seen some lovely things....hey ho, retail therapy another day.
