Gill and I went for a massage by the blind in Phenom Pehn. This is where we are guaranteed skillful and trained masseurs with no "extra services". The idea is that the money raised is ploughed back into providing employment for blind people in Cambodia. We both opted for a medium strength Japanese style massage. I must have come as a bit of a shock to the petite pretty masseuse who gave a little squeak when she first touched my back and promptly arranged for a male colleague to take over. She gave the lame excuse that she could see ( or something like that - which I doubt because she had just crashed into both my legs which overhung the couch by some two feet).
I was smacked about for an hour which did my back no good at all. Gill, on the other hand, fell asleep during her massage only waking when they tried to pull out each of her finger nails. Never mind - all in a good cause.
The Wats in Siem Reap are staggering. Tourists are still allowed to clamber all over these treasures which seems somewhat counterproductive but very interesting whilst still possible. Angkor Wat is massive and must have been some project in its day. Even our guide who knew everything and told us it all at great length in the blazing sun did not know the answer to the basic question - how did they actually build the edifice with such high precision? One of the wonders of the world - and a must see. Back to Bangkok now ( hopefully by Thai Airlines as opposed to Air Lao - which understood the principle that hot air rises and pumped superheated air into the cabin for a safe flight) Beach next - ah! somewhere where my soaking wet appearance might not attract quite so much attention.

Hi there
You both look very hot in the photograph! Are you not standing up to the weather too well! We both love the climate of the Far East but you do have to put up with being damp all the time! Ankor Wat sounds and looks amazing, we had some friends in NZ who had gone and she had got stuck at the top of one of the towers and had to be helped down, it was so steep apparently. So where to... show all

Glad to see Gill still has the walking boots on - not able to get back to Foxes for a different brand!.
Keep up with the reports.
