Lake Tahoe lies to the Northeast of San Francisco, a three and a half to four hour drive that skirts past Napa Valley and Sacramento on the way there. Its popular especially during the winter season when its ski resorts open for winter and the mountains get their picturesque snow caps. I made four trips to Tahoe, one in winter for skiing at the Northstar Ski Resort, one in Spring, and two in summer. By far the best time for me was in the spring, when you could feel warmth in the air and begin to see the first blooms. It was gorgeous too in winter, if only I could stand up long enough on my skis without losing my balance and crumpling in a heap onto the snow.

Two thirds of the Lake are on the California side, and the remainder on the Nevada side. What's interesting about that is at South Lake Tahoe, the major town located on the Southern tip of Tahoe, the Nevada side houses at least 5-6 major Casinos while across the street on the California side there are none. Accomodation is plentiful here, and in true American style, I stayed in motels during my trips here.

Enjoy the photos!
