Said our farewells to Jane John Tabby and Olly and headed off for the shotover jet boat. Pat not keen but the ride was great, didn't get too wet and Pat took it in her stride but had two puddings for lunch and the basis she had earned it. Went up the mountain there for lunch on a gondola in great weather. Sunny and clear. Later set off for the West Coast and the Glaciers. The Haast Vally in the evening light was a wonderful sight with the snowcapped mountains reflecting the light of the setting sun. Stopped overnight at Haast as it had gone dark. Had a meal in the local pub (5 customers) and had a dinner big enough for me and all of them. They do go in for big portions here. Hope to arrange a helicopter ride up the glacier tomorrow. Sadly the ski plane goes from Mount Cook on the other side of the range. Pat is pleased about that and has vetoed a suggestion we climb up the glacier with crampons with a guide.

Regards
