Advised it would be easier to book a guided tour to Milford Sound picking us up at the campsite at 8.15 am. than drive the camper there. Didn't tell them I'd driven the bloody thing up a mountain and the road to Milford was a doddle by comparison. It did mean I could birdwatch out the window without the danger of running off the road or Pat hitting me. It was very nice. Just four of us in the group plus driver/guide. We did some walks on the way and stopped to see Kea the Alpine Asbo Parrot. They hang around to mug tourists for snacks. You are discouraged from feeding them and the one we saw showed his displeasure by flying on the minbus roof and ripping out a big chunk of rubber door seal. They have a whopper beak. Pat refused to pose next to it to my disappointment.

Milford Sound was stunning. We also saw Fiordland Crested Penguin, seals and had a short trip out to the Tasman Sea. It was wet and misty but that added to to atmosphere and the rain meant many waterfalls were falling into the fiord. Got back to the camper around 4 pm and learnt that the Springfords were in Queenstown so set off to meet up. Found out where they ere and met up at the campsite. Great to see them and hear the stories and see the pictures of their travels. Polished off four bottles of wine and stayed up late chatting. It was amazing to meet up half way arouf the world like this.
