Decided to stay in the camp for a morning bird watch rather than another game drive. The camp was full of birds and it was easy to see them. At midday had lunch then a swim in the camps pool which was pretty unusual for camps of this sort. Pat was being too nice to the local monkeys who clearly thought she was a soft touch. Generally they were pretty neverous and we later found out why. Told Pat she was too soft with the monkeys and they were in the tent trying her clothes on. They had certainly started sitting in her chair. Later had another boat safari, just the two of us again as Pat enjoyed it so much. She likes it as it involves no walking, no surprises and keeps things with big teeth safely at a distance. In the evening gecko had brought all his mates round for a gecko party. This involved dropping from the porch of the tent onto the table with a thud for no obvious reason other than it annoyed Pat. Pat has now driven the gecko out of the shower but it had taken up residence in the tent and has been trying her bed out for size.
We are escorted to dinner by the Masi watchmen who told us two leopards were in the camp in the early hours of the morning and had climbed the tree where the monkeys sleep taking one. They obviously fancied a take away. After dinner escorted back to our tent where there was the usual grunting, snorting and farting from hippos and a hyena making a right racket. Pat could take no more and shouted SHUT UP AND GO TO BED! A stunned silence fell across the the African bush as the terrified wildlife wondered what new and awful creature had entered their domain. The gecko however was used to all this and had sneaked back in the shower.
