Good flight. Kept giving us lots of food. Delayed at Kilimanjero because the luggage laoder broke down. Locals got it working eventually. Pity it was dark as I would have liked to see the mountain. Arrived Dar es salaam around midnight. Met by a representative from the parliament and taken to the vip lounge. So far everything had gone pretty smoothly but that was all about to end. The luggage handler at Dar had also packed in and we were told there would be 15 minute delay for our luggage. Nearly two hours later our luggage finally materialised and we set off for the hotel. On the way we were introduced to African traffic, most notably a large truck towing a trailer that tried to do a u-turn at a junction in front of us. He couldn't swing enough so he tried to mount the very high kerb and knocked his front wheel off. This caused traffic chaos and much honking of horns. Our minder, Mr Brown, was reluctant to drive past it as it was going backwards and forwards like a beached whale but eventually we squeezed past and checked in at the hotel about 2 am.
