The rain that began yesterday continued through the night and into the morning.  But even with all the cloudy weather, this was only the second time on the trip that we have had to close down and hook up in the rain.  Our goal today was the Kenai Peninsula and Homer.  The drive was slow and rainy.  The beautiful scenery along Turnagain Arm was shrouded in clouds and fog.  The pictures from early in the drive show the dreary day.
As we drove we stopped to find a few geocaches along the way, and view the waters of the Kenai.  As we made the turn south toward Homer, we could see blue sky off to the west, and with that the two prominent volcanoes along the opposite shore came out of the clouds.  These are two active, although not active at the present time, volcanoes.  Mt. Redoubt has erupted in recent history, although Mt. Iliamna has not.
The nice weather also gave us a nice view of the Homer spit.
After getting set up in our campsite, we went down on the spit to sign up for a cruise on the Kachemak Bay.
We then drove up to Anchor Point in search of eagles, which seem to still be in nesting mode here, and drove out the most western point in North America that can be reached by continuous roads.
Then it was back to the trailer for dinner.  With clearing skies we sought out a sunset and found beautiful golden skies from the setting sun at 11 pm.
Tomorrow we will continue to search for the elusive eagles.
