Im at the airport waiting for flight to Bhutan. There are couple of days missing in my blog cos I got sick. Had to go to doctor yesterday and had extensive check and he says only Dehli belly.....but Im in Nepal??? Musta been dodgy dahl baht.
Im dissapointed to miss out on some of the sites I wanted to see but thems the breaks. I missed Pashupatinath, Kopan and 2 of the Durbar Sq but hey I can see them next time. Not likely. Kathmandu is a shit hole and does not deserve the tourism it gets. The rest of Nepal is spectacular but in the capital they just dont care. I dont think it is sour grapes cos I got sick it really is a dirty city and the locals do nothing about it.I read a lot about the polution in Kathmandu but nothing really prepares you for it. Julianna said Dec and Jan were clear and you could see the mountains, so maybe I just lucked out with the weather conditions. The dogs barking at night were also a pain. I thought I would be able to ignore it but every now and then one will be different or louder and wake you up. Language was difficult. In Thamel you could make them understand if you speak slowly, if your American speak slowly and shout, but when you get further from Thamel or into the less touristy spots it was sometimes hard to get them to understand. They did not understand Kirtipur til I rolled the R and said Kirrrrrrtipur, Gompa was Goompa and Chhetrapati was Chhetrrrrpati.
In off to the land of the thunder dragon, Bhutan and I dont know what the situation is re internet cafe but it is package tour so will be looked after. I will post again asap.
