Quick note on Vienna and Milan, both have mastered the cool idea of having fans with mist sprays in the train stations and at restaurants. A great way to keep cool that I kept forgetting to mention!
Back to the blog...
Andrew and I headed out to the same bar last night as we were at the night before. We once again had mojitos that were incredible and knocked us off our socks. Andrew made the keen observation that he thinks he tasted a small amount of absinthe in the mojito mix. Not sure, but it would explain why they hit you so damn strong. Either way, I love them and they are well worth the €8.
Once again, I was noticing the fashion while out and it is clear to me that Milan has the largest percentage of people that aren`t hot but dress like they are. Weird. It is also a place that seriously tests your sense of direction. We made our way to the exact same end location as last night, but got there an entirely different way, and still ended up getting completely turned around and lost on the way back. We ended up having to stop in a hotel and find a map only to discover that we were no where near where we thought we were. Such a pain.
Despite our long walk, we came home to the apt to finish our dinner leftovers and head straight to bed. We woke at 6:30am (I think I was still drink from my 2 mojitos) and packed up our stuff and headed out to the airport. We were finally going to get the hell out of Milan. (I`d say I don`t want to ever go back, but those mojitos alone are worth it!!) After having to fight some Korean tour group in line for some personal space, we got check in and headed to our terminal. From there we had to take a bus out to the plane. I am not completely sure that our driver was aware that he was driving a bus, but I think we got to the plane without anyone seriously falling over and hurting themselves. The flight was uneventful and I slept for most of it.
After arriving in Barcelona, we made the dumb decision to take the train instead of the bus into town. Not only did we end up having to wait 30 min for the train since we just missed the last one, but the map on board wasn`t clear and we ended up getting off a stop early only to have to buy another ticket to get on the metro and head the rest of the way. But hey, at least we weren`t in Milan!!
We eventually made it to the hostel where we checked in and met up with Edie, who was able to get a bed in the same room as us. Yay Edie!! I should note that while Kabul seems like a ton of fun, it also seems like the dirties of the hostels we`ve stayed at. But no worries, we at least have the clean sheets we rented so all should be well.
After checking in and setting up our beds, Andrew, Edie, and I all headed back to the train station to get our tickets to Seville so there wouldn`t be another train issue. The line and wait was long, but we were able to trade up a bunch of numbers and only had to wait around for about an hour. With tickets in hand, we headed back to the hostel, and ultimately down to the beach to hang out for the afternoon and drink sangria. (and so Andrew could admire the topless sunbathers.)
Sufficiently buzzed we headed back to the hostel, stopping for food (again some sort of gyros like thing) along the way. We are now back at the hostel enjoying happy hour where Andrew didn`t notice that it was 2 for 1 and therefore ordered 4 drinks, leaving us with 8 full pints to drink between the 3 of us. But again...we aren`t in Milan!
So glad Edie is here to share in the fun. Quickly running out of internet time, so must end this but will write more tomorrow. Yay Spain!!!
p.s. Edie says hello to everyone!
