At first I was really quite intimidated by this hostal, Milhouse. It was overrun with drunken Irish people who were out to party and nothing else. The decibels in the common area would have done damage to the ears of the most deaf people in the world but thankfully it has calmed down (marginally) and is quite a nice atmosphere now.
The hostal is fantastically organised with Tango and Salsa lessons (I was forced to get up to dance tonight - the instructor picked on me for some unknown reason????) with something planned for every night
I have to say that Buenos Aires is virtually Europe. I really do not feel out of place at all here and I am thankfully not getting weird stares anymore. I think it's still pretty obvious that I'm a tourist but, hey, it beats being stared at like a complete freak. Haven't seen too many of these fantastically gorgeous men that I've been told about but the people in general are really lovely and I have met some amazing taxi drivers. They are real characters! The city is asi asi but, considering that it has as many people as London (12 million), it really doesn't feel so hectic or cramped. Am seriously considering a change of venue when I get 'home'!
Heading to Peninsula Valdes on Thursday and then Ushuia at the weekend. Looking forward to lots of hiking and seeing wildlife again. Don't really think I'm a city girl at heart.
Some of you have been very lax recently with emailing - you know who you are! Don't forget me.
