Once back, we headed out for a 'free' walking tour of the city. Apparently these are really big all over Europe; a local takes you around and shows you the sights and at the end you are expected to pay him what you think the tour was worth. Pretty cool idea really - bad luck for our guide though because we are feeling particularly stingy at the moment
Our guide was more than good enough for us to part with a little bit of cash
After the tour a bunch of the last remaining top deckers met us for a pub lunch. Then I shot off to try and find the Imperial War Museum again and finally nailed it! Had a rushed visit but it was definitely worth it. Never seen so many different tanks and planes in one place.
Had to sprint back to the hostel afterwards and made everyone late. Made it up to them by hiring a cab straight to the station. The crew going to Ireland is me, Liz and two girls from the tour; Sarah and Anna. Total girl-fest.
We took a train all the way up to Wales where we had to wait for our ferry. On the way we had a good chat to two very hung over Leinster Rugby fans - travelling home for work the next day after the watching the Heineken Cup final (sort of like Europe's Super Rugby tournament I think). They gave us some really useful tips and convinced us that we need to head right down to Killarny while we're there
Arrived at the ferry terminal at about 11pm and had to wait about 3 hours before boarding. Tried unsuccessfully to sleep on the cold floor - a real FML/character building moment.
Once on the ferry I found a chair to collapse into. Sarah's sea sickness pills knocked me out cold so at least got a few winks before arriving. Our hostel in Dublin wouldn't let us check in till 9am so we slept in the lobby once we arrived - much to their disappointment.
Give me a rolled up t-shirt and I can sleep anywhere these days. Rest never felt so good!
