Got lucky with accommodation today and managed to book some accommodation at the Clink Hostel, where the remains of the tour group is staying. We had to mission it across town on the tube to get there with all of our bags; not an experience I would like to repeat. Liz reckons someone had a go at stealing stuff out of her backpack too.
We're on a serious budget now and trying to slum it like students again (pot noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner yay!). London living costs are not helping! Our two nights at the Clink came in at about £160, and that's for a dingy 12 bed dorm.
In the afternoon we did our best to have a scout around town
We really like London, not a great place if you have zero money but the city is bustling! There is so much going on all the time. Random moment of the day was walking outside King's Cross and stumbling across a huge crowd watching a busker ripping into a massive drum solo. He'd obviously come straight from work as he was fully kitted out with a suit and tie.
Had dinner with some of the top deckers at Nandos (Liz and I were stingy and shared a meal). While there I had a chat to one of the Aussie top decker's sister who has somehow developed a full blown pommy accent after only living in London for a year. Weird, hope the same thing doesn't happen to me.
Had a few quiet drinks at the hostel bar in the evening. Everyone is slowly fanning away and heading back home, it feels like one big prolonged goodbye....
