Went to the Foreign Correspondents Club for dinner yesterday evening - if you have seen the Killing Field film you will know if from that. Lots of boats on the river all covered in lights - very pretty. (Went to Friends the evening before - a restaurant run to help get children off the street - best food we’d had on the holiday so far and all in a good cause)

Lazy day today - were going to have a nice long lie in but the monks in the temple next door were banging on their drums at 5am!

Took a TukTuk to the Russian Market and did a little bit of shopping - have bought a beautiful rectangular plate - but I’m not quite sure where it’s going to go in the suitcase!

Then to Street 240 which has some nice handicraft shops and cafes and then to the waterfront and sat and watched people fishing from their boats.

This afternoon we went to the Royal Palace - very impressive with beautiful gilded layered roofs . It is also home of the Emerald Pagoda - which houses the Emerald Buddha and a 90kg solid gold Buddha which is encrusted with 2086 diamonds!

Very, very hot today so retired to the hotel for a rest before venturing out to eat somewhere on the Riverside.

In our paper today - 100 crocodiles have been released by floodwaters in the central province of Ayutthaya, Thailand - the government are offering a 1,000baht bounty for every crocodile captured. Come home all is forgiven!!

We are seeing what our options are - but it may not be flooded by the time we get there (fingers crossed) . I promise I'll keep away from the crocodiles!
