Pub Street and the night market last night - hardly any flood now- so we had a good time watching the world go by and seeing all the people having fish pedicures - not us though!

A lazy day today wandering round the centre of Siem Reap, sitting ion cafes and watching everyone. Went to a garden which the guide book says had 15,000 butterflies - we maybe saw 15 (but they were very pretty!).

There is a lot of evidence of the war here - a lot of people with missing limbs due to the unexploded bombs which are all over the place - at the temples we were told to stick to the parked paths as the rest may not have been cleared. Our guide’s father had been killed by Pol Pot’s army and his mother only just escaped being taken away - it really brings it home to you when you see and hear things like that - much more than reading about it before you visit.

Whilst we were having a drink in one of the bars a very drunk one legged man came up and started arguing with the security guard (whose job was to keep the little children away from the clientele so they can drink in peace). I’m not sure what the argument was about but it got very heated and ended with the one legged man hitting the security guard with one of his crutches and then hitting him with his fist on the jaw. The security guard was only a young boy and looked like he wanted to cry. The police came along and took both the security guard and the one legged man away on the back of their motor bikes.

Raining heavily and thundering this evening - the roads on the way back were much more flooded than on the way in.

Could you take a photo of a stall selling silk please? All the photos are very good, I think you should have a change of career.

Of course we will! We went to a patchwork quilt shop yesterday - but they only sold finished quilts and not material - but I did try!! I have also been looking for silk material for you - but I haven't seen any yet,
