As I told you in the blog for Tuesday, we left Yuma Wednesday morning headed for Quartzsite. It was sad losing electricity, long hot showers, the swimming pool, the people and hot weather. Although it was time to get the wheels moving and touring more of Arizona before we have to head home, being cold in Quartzsite was not going to be my cup of tea. Before we left Yuma, we put our money down to get on the Hot List of Leaseholders. We are #116 to get a lot in the SKP park in about 5 to 9 years.
On the way to Quartzsite we had to go through the Border Patrol check point. All they asked was "Are you American Citizens." These are federal guys and there were 4 of them standing there. Maybe Obama can clean up our govenment, ya think? Before we came to the check point, we saw the "eye in the sky"
balloon anchored on the ground. This device watches the border of USA and Mexico to see if anyone comes over illegally. It was a treat to see it up close. Castle Dome Rock is in the background.
We arrived at MP 99 only to find - nothing! So, we turned around and headed back to La Paz Valley Road and saw an Escape sign. I was busy texting Kathy to let her know where to turn. They were behind us by an hour. We picked a spot so that the sun was shining in our windows all day long and boy it does feel good.
Annie was so happy to be out of this moving home on wheels. She immediately rolled in the dirt and headed off to check out her surroundings. Morgan has been running around happy not to be on a leash. She has enjoyed meeting everyone and everyone has been very good to her desire to be petted.
We got set up and met up with our chapter members.
It was good to see familiar faces and got all those great SKP hugs. At 5 pm we were to go to dinner together. Well, at 5 sharp everyone was out of here and 6 of us were left standing with our thumbs up our noses! None of the 6 had been to Quartzsite on a personal level so we didn't know where the heck we were going. We had a couple of key words - Quail and Moon. I finally got on the phone to one of the members to find directions. We did find the place before everyone had gotten a table.
I immediately went to our "Mom and Dad" of Chapter 37 and chewed them out for leaving their "kids" in a strange town. I can tell you that that tantrum didn't go over at all with them! They even went to their table before us!!!! I think 18 of us sat for dinner at Quail Mountain or Mountain Quail, whatever, and had a very good meal that was very inexpensive.
Tom and Diane took us to the Long Term Parking area to get our bladder for the satelitte dish (an anchor) filled with water. They have bought the long term pass for the season and was able to get in and get water. Then back to the RV, checking email and getting to bed. I woke up at 3:30 this morning, my face and head freezing. So we turned on Mr. Buddy to warm it up. Worked like a charm and I slept like a baby! Don't like being cold.
