Off to Imperial Dam on the California Side

Saturday we took Kathy and Terry out to Imperial Dam to see what kind of living arrangements are for RVers that spend up to 7 months here camping on BLM land. We met up with Dick and Doris from our Escapee Chapter 37 group. We took a little jog to the Algondois exit when Dale thought he needed to cross the Colorado River. Needless to say, the rive is back in Yuma. We got turned around and headed toward Winterhaven and got on the right road. Imperial Dam camping is about 18 miles from Yuma.

It was pretty windy up there. Last year Dale and I spent about 4 days with Dick and Doris and the wind was pretty fierce then. We circled in the front of their RV to have lunch together. Then we were off for a tour of the place and headed home.

On the way home we stopped at the Date Gardens. Dates come from the palm trees and their are groves of them around this area, as well as lettuce and many other crops. Dale, Kathy and Terry got a shake.

I still hold that opinion. There was a small shoppe inside to buy ice cream, candies, and of course, dates.

It was a good day! Of course, that night was game night. I purchased $3 in pennies. I haven't opened $1.50 of the pennies and my can is full as well as another container. And I keep giving away my pennies because they won't fit into my can. I am usually not a lucky person, but this must be my game!!! It is fun and we have some good laughs. Like tonight, I called King of Diamonds and everyone looked at me and said "WHAT!" It took me 3 times to understand that the card was the King of Hearts. My head said hearts but the mouth didn't follow suit! Yep, I turned red in the face and had a hot flash!!!!!
