Mother Nature decided Medford needed another blanket of snow, so we were dumped on during the night. Winter in Southern Oregon usually consists of rain and wind. However, the last few weeks have brought temperatures in the 20's, ice and snow and frozen water faucets.
We have been waiting for this day to come along for months now. Since I work at a mountain resort during the summer months, we take our vacation in December. This also works well with Dale's work schedule as the college closes for two weeks and then we add on our vacation time and presto - we get a month's vacation.
This will be our thrid year to go to Arizona - just like the snowbirds. I use to chuckle at the term "snowbird" when used in the context of people heading south for the winter. After our first month in Arizona in 2006, I wondered why anyone would want to leave all that sunshine and blue sky for a true winter in the mountains!
Yet, here we sit. In the snow, waiting to see if the "chains required" rule is lifted for the Siskiyous and beyond Mt. Shasta. We can hope!

Hi Louise
Hi Louise, thanks for the email! We haven't had internet since we left, so couldn't update the blog. Hopefully, this week I can get some time. We are in Yuma, family obligations are done, so now it is play time.
Hope all is well for you.
