After checking in at a nice new hotel in trendy Cuba Street in the centre of Wellington, we went for dinner at a buzzing Asian Fusion restaurant. Wellington is quite a small city, but it has a lovely atmosphere with a good mix between arty and seedy.
The next day we checked out the famous Te Papa museum, which is massive but extremely well presented and gave us a good overview of New Zealand history, including Maori culture and art as well as the life of the pioneers and settlers to NZ 150 years ago. Maggi's not usually very good at museums, but even she quite liked it!
The rest of the day we perused the very expensive souvenirs and Maori art - we've not yet found a suitable NZ memento.
Then in the evening we treated ourselves to a fantastic gastronomic experience at Logan Brown's restaurant. It blew the budget, and forced us to eat "fush and chups" for the next few days to make up, but was really worth it. Fantastic food and wine in a relaxed ambience.
