The Doubtful Sound cruise was fully booked the next day so we decided to drive to Milford and take a trip there and do Doubtful Sound the next day.
The weather was still gorgeous as we drove along the beautifully scenic road. On the way we walked 2-3 hours to Key Summit, which gave beautiful views of 3 Fiordland valleys and is also the start of the famous Routeburn track. At the top there was an alpine nature walk with guided tour you could follow. The Kiwis maintain their parks superbly with well manicured and signposted paths. The cruise to Milford was choppy on the way out but glorious. On the way back we went under a waterfall, which had rainbows coming out of the spray. We dove back to Manapouri but found an off road spot ready for our Doubtful cruise the next morning.
