Next we headed to the Lake District on our way down south to the southern Fiordlands. We decided to stop in Wanaka, quieter and less touristy than more famous Queenstown.

Part of van life is filling up with water and emptying waste (water and loo). This turned out to be easy and not as awful as we were lead to believe.

That afternoon we headed up Iron Hill which rewarded us with beautiful views of Lake Wanaka. We then pitched up in yet another gorgeous site near Diamond Lake, which we planned to walk to the next morning.

The weather was still glorious as we set off early to Rocky Mountain (which we found out later was a Lord of the Rings location). There we had even better views of the lake than at Iron Hill.

We then headed down to Manapouri where we planned to tackle Doubtful Sound the next day.

We reluctantly booked into our 1st campervan park as we needed to charge camera/phone batteries. It was a quirky place, very clean but we missed the open road and our isolated spots.
