As the weather had improved by this stage, the sky was clear and blue and we could finally enjoy the famous mountain views on our return journey back to Wangdue. The highest mountains are on the northern border with Tibet and even at this time of year are still snow-covered.
We stopped for lunch at Gangtey Gompa, one of the oldest monasteries but in the midst of renovation. It's located at the head of the beautiful Phobjikha Valley though which is much wider than the others and is a great place for a picnic.
Having missed the England v Austria game during the trek, Jerry managed to watch the final qualifying game against Poland in the middle of the night with Phub and a couple of other guides (well their room anyway as they had the telly - they weren't interested!).
