Our second attempt at a trek in Bhutan was chosen not so much for the mountain views but rather the "culture" aspect. Sadly there wasn't as much culture as we had hoped and we traipsed through the forest for much of the time. It was also extremely muddy after the heavy recent rains, though luckily we didn't have to suffer too much more rain ourselves. Maggi fell in the mud a few times and we all (even Jerry once) had to be carried over the swollen rivers!

The campsites though had really beautiful settings and we were provided superb food in the evenings. We did visit a couple of small intimate temples enroute so it wasn't completely bad, but we felt particularly for Hazel who was really looking forward to a decent trek. At least we had enjoyed spectacular mountain treks in earlier countries.

We finished up at Ugyen Choling, a fascinating old museum of a royal residence which had loads of well presented artefacts. We also stopped at a nice river waterfall called "burning lake" before returning to our hotel in Jakar.
