Despite the heavy rain, Gyabo once again knocked us up at 5.30am and said the views were very clear. After the sun came up we were afforded fantastic views of half the himalayas, stretching from Everest in the west to Kanjanjunga and beyond to the front and east. Amazing and well worth the viewless trek up!!

After a hearty breakfast of tea momos (a bit like a dumpling) we set for a step down, supposedly taking 2 hours. This turned into a 4 hour down as the path had been seriously eroded by heavy rain. Maggi struggled with the steep and very slippery conditions. After falling hard on hard on her back near the end, a good sob and comforting from Jerry was required at the thankfully comfy lodge which we finally reached for lunch.

Rejuvinated, Maggi had to endure another 2 hours of down, thankfully more manageable, bfore reaching a jeep track for the final 2 hours of walking of the day. By now the legs were aching after 25km of walking but the effort was rewarded with a very comfy lodge and our 1st hot shower for 4 days. A nice chicken curry and music on our Zen ended the day on a positive note.

The next morning we finally saw some views on our 4 hour drive back to Darjeeling but by the time we made it back, the mists had descended again. Very frustrating weather.

Heavens Fall Here !!!!
Hi there!
Its wonderful to see pictures of Rimbik on the net! I had been there about 15 years ago, while on a trek. And now plan to go there again in September.Only because the single moring I spent at Rimbik has engraved a portrait of purity and beauty in my mind!
Looking forward to having a great time in Heaven, once again!

Sheetal.
