After our adventure going to Samye we decided to have an easy day. We finalized plans for our trip to Nepal, meeting the tour agency and finalizing the itinerary.
We paid for our tibetan chest and went to the bank etc. Just after dinner there was a huge fireworks display near the Potala palace in honour of the 40 year celebtrations. We watched them from our cycle rickshaw as we headed down to the square in front of the palace. The palace has been lit up for the last week and looked beautiful close up. Even more spectacular were the fountains in the newly completed park opposite. Jets shot up into the air (some 100 feet high) in time to the music.
We were surprised to see many Tibetans there and the atmosphere was carnival like.
