From Naltar we intended to stay at the foot of Rakaposhi (7788m) but the guest house was very run down so we chose to carry on. En route to Karimabad we bumped into our cook from the trek who invited us to his house to meet his delightful family. They gave us a wonderful welcome. Their home is simple but they have land with lots of fruit and veg. They treated us to a local dish and lots of home grown cherries and apricots before their 11 yr old son gave us a singing and dancing show. We were very honoured and grateful for their hospitality. We were dressed up in the local Hunza costumes which was fun.
Our stay in Karimabad coincided with a festival of dances and games with the local community. We didn't manage to stay the whole course and slipped off to buy a beautiful Hunza carpet and have a rare treat of cappucino and walnut cake.
After a day's illness for Maggi we visited Baltit fort. It was won awards for its renovation.
