We were met at the border by our guide Shigri who gave Maggi a bunch of beautiful flowers and rescued us from the heat with an AC car, which was at our disposal to tour Lahore.
While we were waiting, we met a couple of English girls, Liz and Rachel, who were journalists who had been assigned by BBC Top Gear to write an article on the brightly painted trucks that ply the Karakorum highway. Shigri kindly helped to point them in the direction of some contacts of his. We await the article with interest!
Despite being a big city, Lahore doesn't suffer from the squalor of Indian cities. We ate in both of the famous 'food streets', which were clean and offered almost exclusively meat dishes.
Sight seeing included visiting the crumbling fort, where we met a fascinating historian who explained some of the amazing features of them Moghul palaces, including water clocks and radon controlled hot water baths.
