Woke up to a beautiful sunny day in Southern Iceland and headed east. I knew that the Eyjafjallajokull volcano had gone quiet but I still went and checked it out anyway. You could see occasional smoke coming out of the top but it was not overly exciting (hence no photo). The drive up to it was very beautiful though with a large ridge that had loads of little waterfalls along it. The first waterfall shot in my images is one of them. This was my first attempt at using the flowing water technique in my shots. I was quite surprised and stoked with how well they turned out.

Back onto the Ring Road and soon came to Seljalandsfoss a large waterfall that you can walk behind. It was quite cool to go behind this huge fall and the noise was amazing. I soon discovered that taking photos of waterfalls can be difficult due to the (der!) large amounts of water they spray up. I got some ok shots though.

After this i drove towards an area called Porsmork but did not get too far as i came to a stream i was not sure about crossing. Especially as i had not seen another car in some while. So rather than risk it I turned around and headed back and continued along the main road watching the amazing scenery go by. Every time you come round a corner you are hit with another amazing view of mountains and glaciers and all sorts of things. It's an awesome place.

I then came to the famous Skogafoss waterfall. Famous for good reason as it is extremely beautiful and the fact that you get such a great view being right in front of it just adds to it's appeal. I took a load of photos but, not surprisingly, had a problem with water on the lens. I then walked up to the top which was actually a waste of time as the view up there is not that great. The stairs almost killed me as well, there's a hell of a lot of them.

Back on the road and turned to check out the Myrdalsjokull glacier. I came across a guy standing near his motorbike and stopped in case he had a problem. Turned out he just wanted a lift up the road as his bike wasn't going to make it so i figured why not and in he jumped. He was from Italy and seemed like a nice enough guy. So up the hill we went and thankfully the Jeep had 4WD as the road was pretty crazy at times. We continued up and eventually got to the top where you had a decent view of the volcano and the glacier, although the dirt from the erupting volcano has left the glacier pretty dirty and not that exciting to look at. The view of the coastline from up there was great but as it had become pretty grey and overcast photos did not look that great.
I then headed to Vik, stopping briefly at the Dryholaey cliffs and the black sand beach where there was actually some pretty crazy black shore break. Not that i was going to go bodysurf it as the water was freezing.

I'm now at my accommodation in Vik trying to watch some world cup games with Icelandic commentary.
