I left Mount Gambier around noon and drove along to Portland (the first European settlement in Victoria) and had lunch down at the harbour. Back on the road along the A1 (no not the UK!) towards the Great Ocean Road. Along the way to my overnight stop in Port Campbell, I visited The Bay of Islands, Bay of Martyrs, The Grotto, The Arch and London Bridge - fantastic coastal scenery. I arrived in Port Campbell around 6pm and checked into my accommodation then went to the small town to have dinner. Watched the sunset over the small beach.
Today I left Port Campbell and drove along the Great Ocean Road. Visited the Loch Ard gorge (named after a ship that sailed from Gravesend that sank after hitting rocks) and mutton bird island. After that I went to the twelve apostles - great scenery again. I then drove further along the road and headed for the Otway fly treetop walk. I thought the $20 entrance fee was a bit expensive for what it was. I arrived in Apollo Bay around 5pm and checked into the YHA - one of the nicest I have been in.
That's all for now. Tomorrow I continue my journey along the Great Ocean road then head for Melbourne.
