Well the countdown has begun. Seven days until Parkes and I board a plane and head out into the world of backpacking for only god knows how long.  For those of you who don't know, I’ve decided to give up my apartment, sell my things, quit my job, and backpack Europe on a one-way ticket.

Crazy?  Perhaps.  Awesome?  Absooooooolutely.

You’re probably wondering how the hell did I decide to do this, so I’ve come up with a F.A.Q to get you up to speed.

Q. 1 Are you going alone?

A. No.  My co-pilot Alex Parke will be along for the adventure, as he too has decided to give up his apartment, sell his things, hand over the keys to his company car, and embark on this adventure.

Q.2 When are you coming back?

A. No idea.  I purchased a one-way ticket, so whatever happens… happens.  I figure one of two things will occur; I’ll come back when I’m broke, or when I can’t bear the thought of going another day without eating Gino’s cooking.

Q.3 What made you decide to do this?

A. The Montreal Canadiens

Q.4 The Habs made you decide to backpack Europe?

A. They made me realize that life is too short to wait around and hope for something great to happen; you have to find it yourself.

Also, it came down to either move to Montreal, find a job, and buy Habs season tickets, or travel Europe with a backpack.  I’ll leave plan A on the backburner until they can turn things around.  Go Habs Go!

Q.5 Where in Europe are you going?

A. Wherever the wind takes me.  Alex and I have booked our first week, and from there, it’ll be pretty much wake up, look at the map, pick a place, and go there… Or just find a bar and get drunk with the locals, and try the map thing the following day.

Q.6 What are you going to do when you get back?

A. Worry about today, today, and tomorrow, tomorrow...  If you look too far ahead, you'll miss what's right in front of you.

Well hopefully that answers some of your burning questions, and if you have any more, just post them in the comment section and I’ll try and find time in between beers to get back to you.
