Writing tonight, I realize I don't even know the date today. I know its Thursday, I’ve worked about 50 hours already, I’m tired as hell and I still have one working day between me and a free weekend. Time to pull my big girl pants on and geer up! Sitting on my bum for the past 4 years of vet school has weakened me!!!! We visited four farms today. Did about 30 palpations by myself, doesn’t seem like much, but for a beginner it really works the arm muscles! At the end of the day my arm just hangs at my side hoping it doesn’t have to work anymore; its not fair that the right arm does nothing while the left one does all the work. Someday I will train both arms, but I’m not that talented yet. Mike, Russ and Bob can slip down a row of cows using both arms like they’re robots! Breaking news…. I drove the Autobahn today. Now the average person thinks, Autobahn means no speed limit, driving like Jimmy Johnson, tearing it up… that would be correct… until there is construction. So think about going 90-100 mph when suddenly the sign says 40 mph because of road work. Puts a big ole damper on your race car fantasy! And if you don’t slow down when the sign says to, you might get caught on camera and get a fine or possibly lose your license. Hence why I’m driving Jose around all week :) Don’t get me wrong, the Autobahn is amazing, perfect stretch of pristine highway, but it can definitely be touch and go sometimes. Oh yes. We stayed overnight in a hotel because the drive to the farm was so long, well at dinner I ordered pork, potatoes and salad. When it came the meat looked like a pressed mixture of different kinds of meat. Whatever, I will try anything once, it was half way okay. I was hesitant and should have known better, but asked Jose where the meat was from. I should have kept my mouth shut because he told me the meat was the pig’s cheek muscle (masseter). So… I was using my cheek muscles to eat the pig’s cheek muscles… I didn’t eat anymore! Hopefully those are enough stories for a bit, more to come soon!
