After running a small errand in town and waiting for our friends, Linda and Lawrence to arrive at the airport an hour after us, we finally made our way to Port Douglas. Located about 45 minutes north of Cairns, the drive to our final destination was a combination of beautiful coastal views and windy roads. We even managed to catch a glimpse of some wild kangaroos.
When we finally arrived and checked into our hotel, we only had enough time to take a shower and freshen up because we were due to attend a "Hens and Bucks" party for Debra and Steve. Despite the raunchy name, it was actually a tame affair. Port Douglas is a very small resort town - not a whole lot to do here. There are approximately 15 other guests here for the wedding. For the first part of the evening, the girls separated from the guys. I have no idea what the guys were up to (probably trouble); but the girls ended up at a very elegant restaurant called Watergate for some fine Australian cuisine and wine. My dinner was absolutely delicious: a lamb salad.
After dinner, we met up with the guys were who at a nearby pub playing pool. By the time we arrived, they were already half drunk and happy. We hung out a little while longer and drank some more. At some point, jet lag kicked in. So, Colin and I headed back to the hotel for some much needed rest after our long journey from Ottawa.
