After starting the day with another scrumptious smorgasboard breakfast, we hired some snorkels to explore the reef off the beach of the hotel. After sometime in finding fins to fit Tim, we set out and saw heaps of fish - probably at least 20 different types from parrot fish to bright electric blue little ones. The fish were pretty spectacular and the coral not too bad, especially considering it was an overcast kind of day. Besides getting stung by something, it was a fantastic was to spend the morning. A quick swim in the pool was followed by several hours at the resort's bamboo bar sipping on our welcome drinks and happy hour cocktails presented in wooden melons or birds! The swinging chairs and constantly skipping CD's were memorable.
In the afternnon the rain set in so we did a bit of trip planning over a rum/bourbon back at the room and ordered room service. A stroll around the resort and up the beach saw a reasonable evening sky with only the very tip of Agung visible. We finally ventured, for the first time, out of the hotel grounds and up to the main Sengiggi stretch. Quite small but packed with restaurants, tourist centres and touts. Had a nice Thai inspired dinner at Bumbu followed by a Bintang at Happy Cafe. Both the restaurant and the bar got pretty busy - it would be packed in high season. We booked a 2 hour bike trip for the morning and have decided to switch plans and do the Mount Rinjani trek as we check out of here and Gili's after - scary - sounds hard. Better stop drinking. (Nah).
