We met at the church to pray for the team, the trip, and La Mision and prepared to travel to La Plata. We then combined with a team from La Mision and rode in a 6 car caravan to La Plata, a university town an hour away. Here we worked with a sister church of La Mision, Mission Bethesda, and pastor Renaldo and his team for the opening of a soup kitchen in the Iron Bridge community. There were three teams for the day to tackle the work the Lord had in store for us. The cooking team prepared the team's lunch and a stew for the soup kitchen to feed over 150. The connection team canvassed the neighborhood near the soup kitchen and passed out invitations to the soup kitchen that night and a children's festival. The construction team started work on the soup kitchen and we were amazed how much they accomplished in only 6 hours! Out teamwork throughout the day not only illustrated God's love and our love for one another, but also the joy that comes from serving. We began work at noon and by 8:30, all of the invitations were passed out, the soup kitchen had a roof and walls, and the stew was prepared. WOW! After our work was complete, we prayed and sang songs with the neighborhood families around the fire. Many questioned why we would come so far to help. Marcel and Renaldo used that opportunity to share what it means to live for Jesus. A woman was saved that night! May God bless her and her walk with Him. We finished the day with dinner at the hotel and headed to get some sleep.
