After spending the morning with Paul's aunt, we headed off on our adventure to North Dakota. We learned that there is a lot of very rural land between the Minneapolis area and North Dakota...and that the rural land continues once you get there. We made it almost uneventfully to Fargo. The only real excitement was when we drove through a dirt devil that noticeably jostled the car sideways.

Now, North Dakota is the Holy Grail of states when your goal is to get to all 50. You see, there really is no reason to make North Dakota a destination. There are some national and state parks, but they're purportedly very much like the ones in South Dakota, where there are also additional things to see and do. Also, if you're not already living pretty far north already there isn't much reason to drive through North Dakota in order to get anywhere else. My parents and I have been to 48 states: missing only North Dakota and Alaska. Now I have them beat! I'm thinking that an Alaska cruise will be a perfect way to celebrate the end of residency in 4 years.

We drove half-way across the state to Bismarck, where we are staying tonight. Paul found a hotel that has a 3-story indoor water slide-no kidding. All 3 of us had a great time on it!

We are going to check out the parks on the western side of North Dakota tomorrow. We'll let you know if you need to make vacation plans. :)

Congrats Audrey on being the first Gray, ne Stanton, to accomplish that great exploratory feat of seeing all 50! That is, when you do see Alaska.

Marilyn and I think Alaska is the best from when we were there, but, then again, we do not yet have all the rest of the states under our belts.

Great Article there ..
Infact north dakota is the real tourist attraction which serves the best part
in terms of national and state parks.
