We started out the day driving through more of King's Canyon/Sequoia National Parks.  We spent most of the morning in Sequoia seeing the huge trees.  Some of them are quite amazing. General Grant Tree

The General Grant Tree, also dubbed the nation's Christmas tree, is the third largest tree (there are apparently many ways of determining tree size, so I guess this is a bit controversial). walk-through tree

The diameter of this tree is approximately 40 feet and it is 268 feet tall.  We then went on to the General Sherman Tree. General Sherman Tree

This one is considered the largest tree based on wood volume.  It is 275 feet tall with a ground-level diameter of 40 feet and ground level circumference of 109 feet.  The top of the General Sherman Tree is dead and this apparently makes its trunk grow wider even if it isn't getting taller anymore...these kinds of trees are called monarch sequoia.  In the grove where the General Sherman Tree is located, we saw a deer with her baby.  deer

It was pretty small and bounced off into the woods following its mother.  Very cute.

The rest of the day we made our way down to Glendale, where we stayed with some friends, the Starbirds.  We had a wonderful steak dinner together and talked all evening.
