So after our very long, bumpy, and sad bus ride, we arriving in Maputo around 3 in the afternoon. We were hot, tired, hungry and grumpy as hell, so it didn't bode well for the rest of the day. (as a result, this will be a short blog :)

We crashed at our hostel for a few hours, then grabbed some food across the street. Maputo seemed ok, but not great. We realized that we felt much mroe comfortable in small towns in a third world country rather than big dirty cities. We then wandered around for a bit, got haggled but some street vendors for a bit, and then just got worn down so we sat on a patio for a beer and contemplated our evening. We decided the best thing for everyone was to just lay low, so we went to a movie! (seems to be our solution when we are grumpy and not really in a place we want to be!)

So movie and a late dinner fixed us right up and got us ready for bed. Tomorrow, we fly to Jo-burg and then Cape Town. It feels a little funny to be starting actual "travelling" again since we've been in the same place for 2 weeks now. But I'm sure we'll get the hang of it once we get going! First things on the agenda - buy a new camera!!!! and a lonely planet (since that was also in the bag.... oy). No new ipods for us though, so I'm going to have to put up with Derek's singing for the next 6+ weeks :)

talk in cape town!
