Here we are, after 2 days at our little hostel in Bariloche. This town is absolutely gorgeous, and the whole area is amazing. Itīs been a very relaxing few days and a great start to our trip!
Yesterday, we actually went horseback riding. Can you believe it? I was pretty petrified at the beginning, I gotta say (those things are HUGE!) but the scenery was just amazing so you quickly forgot that this beast you were sitting on could do some serious damage if it chose to :)
Derek, on the other hand, was apparently a cowboy in a previous life. He was a bit hesitant in the morning, but in the afternoon he was galloping all over the place and singing old cowboy songs
At the horseback riding we met a couple from Sweden who were really sweet and we all went out for dinner in the evening. We went to yet another "parilla" (i.e. steakhouse - our 5th of the trip so far...) it was the best steak Iīve ever had....but I swear if I eat another piece of meat I might explode. After dinner, we taught our friends īliarīs diceī over a few beers. and yes, Derek won :(
Today we had a nice chill day and went for a 4 hour walk/hike. Again, the scenery of the mountains and the lakes is breathtaking. a few pics for ya.
Chill dinner in the hostel tonight (NO STEAK!!!!) and tomorrow we head to El Calafate to see the glaciers! I canīt wait! Weīll talk to you from there!

Riding the Range
Am loving reading all about your trip - keep blogging! You know Milpitas has a wonderful equestrian center - you didn't have to go all the way to S. America to get a ride ;) We miss you! oh yeah - any video of Derek shouting 'Hi Ho Silver'?
Chaps
Thanks for keeping the pic of Derek wearing Chaps to yourself...that is some scenery that none of us care to see.
Have fun!!

City Slickers!!
Hi Guys...so glad you made it safely and looks like you are having a great time. Derek you look like you were part of the cast of city slickers, handling that horse so well!! Sounds like there isn't a shortage of meat to go around!! Enjoy it while you can...who know what you will be eating in the middle of the Safari:) Travel safe!!
Love Jill
