Today was my first day of the one week clerkship in neurology. The nice man in the Erasmus office told me to be in tha department at 8 o'clock. So, punctual as the Germans are, I was there at 8 a.m. - but no one else besides me.
After some minutes the secretary turned up and told me, that the doctor, who was supposed to be my tutor, wouldn't show up that day. Then I sat there until 9.30 a.m., when another sectretary told me where to go - and finally the clerkship started. After the ward round some doctors discussed a very interesting case of Creutzfeld Jacob Disease on the ward, so I really learned something that day.
When I went home by noon, they told me that it had no sense to show up before nine - they would not begin to work earlier than that. What a difference to Germany!
