What does everyone expect when you travel to Egypt: a picture of the famous pyramids of Giza and the sphinx. So this was the trip to fulfil all these expectations. The first stop was at the pyramids of Giza, where most of us entered the Great Pyramid of Cheops - to discover that there was nothing to see inside. But in the end we were something between satisfied that we had seen it and unsatisfied, that there were not the expected treasures inside the pyramid. After the pyramids we went on to the sphinx, to get more of the obligatory Egypt pictures. Having seen these pyramids, we went on to Dahsur to see the Red Pyramid and - to enter it - just to see, that also here was nothing to see inside, just a terrible smell that made us get out immediately. But here we saw a pyramid still covered with limestone as the pyramids of Giza once were. Still not having seen enough pyramids we went to Saqqara to see the older Step pyramid, something that is really different. And of course we could not miss the ancient capital of Egypt, Memphis, where we saw a part of another statue of Ramses II and the Sphinx of Memphis.
In the evening we relaxed on the roof of the hostel to spend the last hours with Vit before he left.
