Excursion to the tunnels of Cu Chi, a suburb of HCMC, where the Vietcong fought against the French and later the Americans. After we were shown a monochrome propaganda film, we went around the area. We could try to enter one of the tunnels the original way (the entrance is really small, so that the bigger Americans could not get through) and later on went into the tunnels, which were too small to walk in an upright position. And we were told a lot about the lifestyle of the people during the war, when they had to live some weeks in the tunnels without daylight. They had everything in there: kitchen, dining room, surgery room and storing room.
In the afternoon we went to one of the markets in HCMC to buy some of the regional fruits. On these markets they sell everything...and beware of the smell of dried fish and the rats running along where the fish is sold.
