What to do on the weekend.. oh what to do..  oh right..  visit another brewery!  The Anheiser-bush company is currently in litigation with the ACTUAL or should i say ORIGINAL budwiser company in Ceske Budjovice.
Needless to say, this trip was destined to be great..  If my first campaign to the Pilsner brewery was a success.. this would be as well.  I managed to get into the city via train in the early afternoon-- unfortunately the brewery was already closed (FYI the brewery doesnt reapond well to threats! ).  I ended up scouring the town for awhile trying to find a cheap or should i say 'economical' lodging.   I ended up finding a rather reasonable PENSION (like a bed and breakfeast) near the center square.  I wandered again to figure out what there was to see... turnes out.. aside from the closed brewery .. not a whole lot!  Again, the city was neat but wasnt anything that was worth a whole lot of time.

Saturday morning after a nice breakfeast I happened upon the BLACK TOWER.   Sounds ominous dont it?  It was the kind of ascent that one false move would send you on a long collision course with the floor.  I humbly name the stairwell of death..  Jon 0, Gravity 1.... Bah!!  The climbing.. aside from being a long.. long long.. way up.. was also narrow .. and couple the fact that people were also trying to squeeze by on their way down.  Fun ..  Quite..  After taking a few pictures from the top I managed to get a bus down to the brewery for the tour.  I was early..  and folks, if you are ever in a pickle as such you should do the smart thing.. and drink budwar beer while you wait....  Cant complain.

The tour was kinda neat - it wasnt anything special.. somewhat similar to the Pilsner brewery tour.. but you didnt hear that from me.  The tour guide had to give speeches in 3 different languages (english, german, and czeck).  Again.. the climax.. if it so can be said.. was the beer tasting.. we were offered two different types the light and the dark.. both unfiltered versions.. similar to the pilsner offerings. The only real difference.. as far as I'm concerned.. is that I have a beer in my hand when touring the bottling plant this time.  Oh.. they also had malt and hops (in their natural state) there for tasting.. so that was kind of a treat.

Upon finishing the tour of the great and magnificent Budweiser Budvar brewery I moved to the next city on my list.. which i almost didnt go to..  Cesky Krumlov..  (sounds pretty random huh?)
Turned out to be my favorite city in czeck.. maybe one of my favorites small cities in all my travels!
