We slept late, had a leisurely breakfast, and left for day two of the Out Islands. The wind is up (20-25 mph) and the water is a bit rough. There a several rocks and reefs we have to avoid, but Ted's study of the charts, the computer, and the auto-pilot help a lot. The shallow water alarm is set at six feet, as we are moving fast and do not want to run aground. We leave the protection of the islands and enter the open Atlantic for a few miles. It is really no rougher than the protected areas. Our destination is Allen's-Pensacola Cay (two Cays joined by a hurricane a few years ago. It looks like calm anchorage, nice beach, and a bit of coral. The route takes us past the northeast point of Great Abaco Island and then northwest past part of Little Abaco Island. When we arrive at the shelter part of the Cay there are already three sailing ships and another yacht. No Problem, there is plenty of room.
We take the dingy over to the beach area, where there is a cut through to the ocean. Live coral in two feet of water ... beautiful. This is a shell collector's paradise. There are conch and other shells piled up to three feet high near the high water line. We find conch, sand dollars and bits of coral.
For dinner it is rib eye steak on the grill, potato, and corn soufflé. We sit at a table in the aft cockpit, eat, and watch another beautiful sunset. Buffet, Queen, Skynyrd and others on the CD kept us rocking until late.
