Shrewsbury is a beautiful town surrounded by the Savern River. It is basically an island except for a small piece of land where the banks of the river almost merge. Much of it looks almost as it did when Darwin lived in it. In fact, much of it is much older. The B and B we stayed in was from 1490. Much of the town center has a medieval character, and the rest is Elizabethan. The few modern buildings look out of place, and could not be built with regulations now in place.

We saw the church Darwin's family attended (Unitarian) and the place where he was baptized (Anglican). His father knew he had to be baptized Anglican to get into Cambridge. We also saw a beautiful park where he played and street views unchanged since he was there.
